A popular birding hotspot, Wolf Lake offers a variety of habitat, including many ponds which are favored by a variety of waterfowl. Over 200 species of birds have been documented on this rich and diverse land!

You will have the opportunity to observe a variety of species of birds, including swans, ducks, geese, mergansers, kingfishers, and more!

This hike will introduce you to the basics of waterfowl identification, and by the end of the hike, you will be familiar with the wide variety of waterfowl present in our area, and have a basic approach on how to successfully identify waterfowl.

This hike is a great companion to my Waterfowl 101 course, which is offered on Saturday, November 8.

All skill levels are welcome. Registration covers one adult. Birders 10 and under are welcome to attend free of charge.

Please bring a pair of binoculars, and a travel mug for complementary chai. A scope for waterfowl observation will be provided.

We will meet in the main parking lot of the Wolf Lake Fish Hatchery, located at 34270 County Road 652, in Mattawan.
