Perhaps the most mysterious and captivating species of birds, owls have inspired a sense of wonder and wisdom upon those fortunate to catch a glimpse. Lucky for us, Short-eared Owls are more frequently seen in the daytime than other owls, especially around dawn and dusk, when they lazily fly over open fields.
You’re invited to witness these mysterious owls as they hunt at dusk. We will remain stationary, all the while attuning to our surroundings. Looking and listening, we will be curious and make new discoveries not only about the owls, but about ourselves. Come to absorb the wisdom that the Short-eared Owl has to offer us.
For this event we will remain stationary, birding from and around our vehicles. Please bring a pair of binoculars, and a mug for complementary herbal chai. It will be windy and cold, so please dress appropriately!
As always, since birds are wild creatures, they do not RSVP. However, when they do arrive, it makes the event that much more special.
Come to expand your bird knowledge in community, sharpen your identification skills, build your life list, and learn more about these fascinating creatures! All skill levels are welcome.
Registration covers one adult, and individual registrations are not shareable between two or more individuals. Birders 10 and under are welcome to attend free of charge. For questions regarding inclement weather, or cancellations, please visit the FAQ page.
We will meet at the Park and Ride at Angling and Centre, located at 8316 Angling Rd., #8258. From there we will carpool to Vicksburg.
