What is the sliding fee scale?
Birds with Seth offers a variety of pricepoints for bird hikes and classes so that folks from diverse economic backgrounds can participate. The price you pay is the price you can afford. Please be honest with yourself and your financial situation when engaging with the sliding scale.
The Full Cost: In the absence of a sliding scale, this is what I would charge all participants. If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services. If you are able to pay for "wants" and spend little time worried about securing necessities in your life, you have economic privilege and power in our community. This price is for you.
The Middle Cost: If you are struggling to conquer debt or build savings or move away from paycheck to paycheck living but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., you belong here.
The Low Cost: If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you belong probably belong here and you deserve a community that honors your price as equal an economic offering as the person who can pay the highest tier.
Thank you Alexis J. Cunningfolk for this model.

What is my inclement weather policy?
BwS recognizes that sometimes Michigan's unpredictable weather can create unfavorable hiking conditions. With your safety in mind, hikes may sometimes have to be cancelled due to inclement, or possible inclement weather.
Generally, BwS hikes will take place rain or shine. The exceptions would be excessive rain or wind, thunderstorms, excessive snowfall, and any other more severe conditions (floods, hail, tornadoes, etc) that could compromise the safety of the group.
In the event that the weather looks questionable leading up to a bird hike, you will receive an update via text/email to confirm the event, no later than one hour before the scheduled start time.
