Kayaking + Birding: The Kalamazoo River

  • WaterTrail Ventures 3151 57th Street Fennville, MI, 49408 United States (map)

Kayaking and birding is one of my favorite warm-weather activities. You never know what you’ll see on the water! It’s such a great way to get outdoors and see birds from a different perspective. From Herons and Waxwings to Eagles and Kingfishers, you won’t want to miss out on this fun morning!

Let’s explore the waters together! This route offers a gentle current and relaxing views of a 4.8 mile section of the Kalamazoo River, just east of Saugatuck/Douglas in Allegan County. The exact route runs from WaterTrail Ventures in New Richmond to the Hacklander Boat Launch, about a three hour paddle.

WaterTrail Ventures will provide the kayaks and all shuttling necessary between the pick-up and drop-off points. If you wish to bring your own kayak or canoe, that is an option as well. Please see pricing options below and select yours at checkout. Once you have completed registration, I will handle the rest of the logistics. All you need to do is show up the morning of, ready to paddle!

Before we launch you are welcome to enjoy homemade chai + breakfast muffins.
